If you own a palm finishing sander you've probably
experienced the shocked feeling to see dark squiggles appear in the
wood's surface as you wipe on the stain. This is caused by using a
grade of sandpaper that's too course for finishing sanding. It's best
to use a finer grade of sandpaper such as 220 grit and save the rough
paper for the belt sander or painted projects.
